BookQuestions_Sassy

  1. What Book would you recommend to read.
- Dracula by Bram Stoker. Classic Victorian horror novel. Dracula is a character that has been adapted again and again, but they have yet to do a true adaption from the book.
2. Do you keep a record of books you have read? If so what is your method?
- I recently started keeping a log last year, I have a small notebook and on each page I have: The Title, Author, date started and ended, how many pages, Genre-subgenre, if this is a new read or a reread,
Interests: why i wanted to read the book Review
Any quotes I favored from the book.
3.Do you have a favorite Book blog? If so what is it?
- Not really. I used to watch these online book club discussions called Vaginal Fantasy with Felicia Day and a few other ladies.
4.Name your favorite Author.
- Rick Riordan. I love what he has done with all of his different mythology series. Been following and reading his books since Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief.
5. A great Romance?
- What can I say, I'm a sucker for Young Adult books. I love Sarah Dessen's books, for me she captures real life perfectly and really brings her characters to life. For this question I shall say Keeping The Moon as that was the first book I read of hers.
6. Name a great Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book
- Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I just finished it a few weeks ago, it's the first in The Lunar Chronicles. It's a great twist on fairy tales.
7. Would you choose a Book because of the cover?
- Yes, I have done so before. It's how I read The Chronicles of Narnia.
8. Have you been to a Book signing? Name of Author
- I sadly have not. I'm in a small town, surrounded by farmland, surrounded by slightly larger small towns, and more farmland--not many people come to my part of the central valley.
9. Name a book you could read over & over.
- Alice Hoffman's Green Angel. It's my favorite book and its nice that it's short and can be completed in a few hours,
10. How many Books are on your night stand/table to read?
- Three: George R. R. Martin - A Clash of Kings, Marissa Meyer - Scarlet, and Melissa De La Cruz - Misguided Angel
11. Do you collect/use Bookmarks?
- I do use bookmarks, but I don't really collect them anymore--I used to as a child. As I am usually reading multiple books at the same time I have a need for multiple bookmarks.
12. Do you have a good Crime/Mystery to recommend
- I haven't read many, but I did enjoy James Patterson's 1st to Die. It's the first in his Woman's Murder Club series.

Reading Challenge 2017-May

I wanted to tell you about the book(s) I've read for this month's challenge.

Read a book that was made into a movie.

I read, " 13 Reasons Why" by  Jay Asher.  I was a very disturbing book but in an educational way.  I also watched the Netflix series by the same name.  I really showed what bullying can do to our kids in the school and how we don't always see what is going on before it's too late.  Also, how social media can totally destroy our children's lives over stupid stuff.  The book itself is about a high school girl who kills herself but before she does she creates 13 audio tapes explaing why she is killing herself. Each take is about another person that hurt her and helped lead to her death.  It also shows how the people left behind have to deal with her death.

This story was totally heart wrenching. I will be honest. It's not for everyone and the actual series on Netflix they didn't pull any punches at all. They SHOWED the actual ending of her life. I will tell you I was bawling my eyes out as I watched this series and I had to turn mute and close my eyes at the one part because it so emotionally affected me that I couldn't handle it.   I think this show affected me so much because I understood so much what Hannah was going through. I hated High School , I was bullied too but unlike today's no bullying rules, my school didn't have that.  When I told my guidance counselor that I was being harassed and asked to please be moved to other classes he said no, that I just needed to suck it up and stick it out for 6 more months.

I know this is a heavy subject for a book reading swap but I had to be honest. I hope I don't depress you :( .   I almost didn't tell you about this and actually read another book so I would have a more uplifting (sorta) book to share with you.

Here are some quotes from others that have read the book: ( These are from the author's website which you can find by clicking here --->) 13 REASONS WHY

"Hannah's story changed Clay's life. It has the power to change many more." —Lauren

"When a book actually affects the way you breathe, you know it is powerful. When a book changes the way you look at life, you know it is nothing short of spectacular. Thirteen Reasons Why is that book. I cant think of anyone who shouldnt read this book. You will hurt, you will smile, and you will never be the same." —Dianna

"This book changed the way I look at the world... at the people around me. It was drastically life-changing, especially since I can relate to Hannahs emotions. I will always love this book. It teaches the reader to be careful about what they do and how they act. It can also help those in a similar situation, or those who know someone suffering. Definitely worth reading." —Maya Dom.
